Job/Internship Description

We Are Hiring Title: Nurse Intern City, State: Brookfield,WI Location: Ascension Elmbrook Hospital Department: Stepdown Intermediate Care Progressive Surgical Variable depending on preceptor's schedule; nights, pms, or day shift. The 6th Floor is a 36 bed Progressive Surgical / Ortho Unit.. The nursing support staff do more than just assisting with the basic patient care activities. They are the eyes and ears for our nurses and physicians, reporting findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions by ensuring accurate and complete documentation. They assist with procedures ordered by the physician while supervised by a RN. They assist patients with attending to personal care, activities of daily living and transfers/transports. Also assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly, among other duties as assigned. We are a Regional Center of Excellence for Bariatrics, Joint commission Total Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Certified and AHA Stroke Certified. Our unit is dedicated to our surgical patients and families. We believe in a strong shared leadership structure led by our Supervisors and RN Leads. We appreciate staff involvement by participating in projects, committees and unit decision making. Additionally, we have a strong work family environment that values relationships. This unit is led by two-unit Patient Care Supervisors that staff the unit and work in the office to manage the day to day operations. What You Will Do Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Complete assigned nursing orders as directed by preceptor, including assisting patient with activities of daily living and taking vital signs. Observe patient status and responses. Document and report observations to preceptor or other appropriate staff. Assist preceptor with development of care plan by reporting test results and patient observations. Perform other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services. What You Will Need Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Education: Enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a Nursing program.
