Provides direction, medical leadership and support for the medical department with ability to serve all client sites, specifically standards of medical practice as applicable to the client, professional development of Acuity, staff, and participation in program development.

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with 18+ years of experience.
  • At least 6 years progressively responsible management positions.
  • Licensed to practice medicine.
  • Maintain medical education criteria established by the State Department of Professional Regulations (or equivalent) for licensure.
  • Possess Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications within six months of employment and maintain currency as may be required by contract.
  • Board certified with 15+ years clinical experience in primary care medicine to include preventive medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. Successful completion of a residency program (corresponding to the specialty required by the task order) which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association or those Canadian training programs approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or other appropriate Canadian medical authority.
  • 5+ years Medical Director experience.
  • Computer literacy in all MS Office programs, relevant software programs, and practice management software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent listening and speaking skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual Skills (English/Spanish)
  • Public health training and or experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership in responding to corporate requests for guidance inpublic health preparedness and emergency response.planningTraining of staff in Acuity Guidelines / Protocols / Procedures / Policies / Electronic Medical Records and other systems.
  • Coaching with staff to achieve performance guarantees and outcomes.
  • Clinical feedback to all onsite health center staff including medical assistants, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and physicians to ensure high quality care.
  • Clinical care services for onsite health centers.
  • Assists in formulating, documenting, and maintaining client specific medical service policies and operational policies for medical services programs.
  • Aids in developing and interpreting policies covering maintenance and improvement of health standards.
  • Monitors and advises medical service programs.
  • Assists with inspection of medical facilities to determine status of equipment, material, and personnel and conformance with standards of operations.
  • Responsible for overall clinical supervision.
  • Makes recommendations concerning clinical services personnel support requirements, capabilities, limitations, and various aspects of program support.
  • Assists senior management to develop long-range plans involving new products, services and human resources.
  • Pursues professional development activities and continuing education to ensure up to date knowledge with present practices and trends in health care.
  • Collaborates with site manager to resolve quality issues and contributes to unit effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues or problems, examining solutions & options, recommending and implementing action plans and courses of action.
  • Develops programs in disease prevention and health promotion with an emphasis on population health
  • Assesses the needs and identifies trends for the site specific client populations.
  • Performs medical job causation reviews upon request to assess causality of reported work-related injuries.
  • Examines patients and determines appropriate x-ray examinations and clinical laboratory tests; provides diagnosis and care on the basis of medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
  • Interprets test results, evaluates examination findings, formulates patient management plans, and communicates such to the patient.
  • Determines the need for and assists in specialized medical care and treatment.
  • Develops a referral network for specialists and workers' comp panels in concordance with Acuity protocol and state board of workers' compensation rules, and refers patients to them as needed.
  • Provides accurate and timely responses to client inquiries.
  • Serves as interface with local private physicians for referral of patients and interchange of information important to patient health and safety.
  • Seeks opportunities to grow the clientele for the clinic; by pursing community outreach and public relations activities, with the support of senior management, as deemed appropriate.
  • Seeks and maintains relationships with the client, public and professional agencies in order to maximize resources and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assists in active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with mandated regulatory or conformance regulations/standards.
  • Performs other assigned departmental operations to maintain workflow.
  • Collaborates with the Account Managers, AVP's, and site managers and meets monthly for program review and strategic planning.
  • Actively participates as part of the Acuity management team, working collaboratively with the Account Manager and Practice Administrators to achieve Acuity and Client goals.
  • Develops physician networking with both local and internal peer groups and professional organization contacts.
  • Participates in Acuity medical advisory board.
  • Travel required as determined by contract requirements to client sites globally.

  • Functions as primary liaison with client, federal and state medical authorities.
  • Monitor compliance and quality assurance programs

OTHER DUTIES:

  • May lead or participate in interdepartmental project groups or task forces to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, contract awards, and new policy requirements.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner.
  • Follows the corporate safety policy.
  • Participates and supports safety meetings, training and goals.
  • Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.
  • Identifies "near misses" and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Assists in active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, JCAHO, AAAHC, and other mandated regulations/standards.
  • May serve on the OSHA VPP, Safety, and Wellness Committees.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must have the ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, bend, balance and twist for extended periods.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds on occasion.
  • Able to withstand changing environmental conditions with the weather (rain, lightning, and winds).
  • Must be able to safely maneuver throughout the job site (sports field, construction areas, etc).
