Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall safety and security of the children during school hours and off-site events.
  • Monitors that educational assessment of each UC is completed by the Educational Instructor/Teacher to determine the child's academic level and any needs.
  • Adapt or modify local educational standards to develop curricula and assessments, in basic academic subjects, to include (Science, Social Studies, Math, Reading, Writing, acculturation to U.S., and Physical Education
  • Education, and English as a Second Language (ESL) if applicable)
  • Provide remedial education and after school tutoring as needed.
  • Provide educational services based on the individual academic development, literacy level, and linguistic ability of each unaccompanied child.
  • Maintain the UC educational case file and ORR (Office of Refugee Resettlement) Database in accordance with ORR policies and procedures.
  • Provides administrative assistance to the educational and residential life as assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish must (Read, Write, Speak) fluently.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, or related field.
  • 3 or more years' experience providing education to children and adolescents within the range of K-12th grade and supervising Educational Instructors/Teachers
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detailed oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as the MS Office products
  • Ability to work shift work, holidays, and weekends.
  • Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations (Emergency Task Order or Cooperative Agreement)
  • Able to evacuate at short notice to accompany unaccompanied minors to a different city for several days at a time.
  • Clean criminal background check, Child Abuse and Neglect (CA/N) or child protective services check.

Preferred

  • Hold an Educator/Teacher Certification, Emergency Educator/Teacher Certification, or Temporary Educator/Teacher Certification.
  • Master's degree in education, or related field.
  • Principal/ Vice Principal, Superintendent or equivalent experience is a plus.
