Position Summary
The Division of Geriatric Medicine at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting for clinician educator-scholars to join its faculty.
The Division of Geriatric Medicine and the Center for Aging and Health support excellence in clinical care, education and research. Faculty clinical opportunities include work in our interdisciplinary, award-winning Geriatrics Clinic, multiple continuing care retirement communities, skilled nursing facilities, home care, and Acute Care of the Elderly Inpatient Service. The UNC School of Medicine is ranked #1 in Primary Care by US News and World Report.
Our education and training programs are supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Duke Endowment, the Moore Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute on Aging. Research training programs include the NIA funded T-35 Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) program and T-32 program in Geriatric Oncology.
Clinician-investigators will find rich opportunities for interdisciplinary research on our unique 5-school Health Affairs campus (Schools of Public Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, Social Work, and Medicine). UNC is home to the NIH-funded Transitional and Clinical Sciences Institute, the Cecil Sheps Center for Health Services Research, and the Lineberger Cancer Center, among others.
Our highly qualified and nationally known faculty members are dedicated to innovations in care with resulting improvements in health outcomes and quality of life for the aging population.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
MD, with residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Geriatrics
