This is a position with The Marley Company, a parent company which provides administrative support to the SPXEnterprisesHVAC Heating businesses (such as WM Technologies, LLC, Marley Engineered Products, LLC, Patterson-Kelley, LLC) and includes all Weil-McLainbranded products.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. The Senior Buyer will execute the procurement process for assigned commodities/components and communicate with suppliers to guarantee on-time delivery of materials in support of Weil-McLain production plan at negotiated best price and committed service levels. The Senior Buyer will work closely with Strategic Sourcing team in sourcing new product streams, finding new vendors, developing commodity strategies, as well as manage assigned projects.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Buying and Analysis
  1. Review MRP procurement messages daily to understand material needs driven by the production plan and inventory strategies.
  2. Compare material needs to current and expected inventories and make decisions regarding purchasing volumes.
  3. Create purchase orders and route for approvals as necessary. Then forward to suppliers along with supporting documentation such as drawings, specifications, technical requirements, etc. Follow up with suppliers to obtain confirmation on pricing, delivery, and ensure technical understanding and capability.
  4. Assists with selection of qualified vendors and monitors their performance for quality, delivery and costs.

  • System Support

  1. Works closely with the Production Scheduler to enable accurate forecasting and delivery schedules.
  2. Resolves discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices, delivery dates, delays, damages and rejections.
  3. Utilize problem solving tools to improve procedures and communications with internal/external customers and suppliers.
  • Continuous Improvement

  1. Participate on teams involved in product enhancement and new product development.
  2. Manage inventory levels of commodities to ensure maximum turns while maintaining a consistent source of supply.
  3. Participate in on/off-site supplier audits and evaluations and make recommendations regarding supplier performance and retention.
  4. Communicate performance ratings and metrics to supply base as assigned.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of inventory procurement in an ERP/MRP environment.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and maintain a high degree of professionalism
  • Strong knowledge of ERP processes and procedures preferably in JD Edwards
  • Experience working with cross functional teams
  • Advanced Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to assess situations and develop plans to quickly resolve
  • Strong communication skills

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or related field

Travel & Working Environment

  • Office environment (when onsite) with occasional work in a plant/manufacturing environment
  • Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training.
  • Manufacturing Environment require use of foot, eye, and ear protection when in production areas.
