Overview

FM with OB Fellowship - Live, Work, Play in Majestic North Carolina

Cone Health - Center For Women's Healthcare is seeking a B/C FM physician who has successfully completed an OB Fellowship to join our collaborative, quality-driven team. Must have the ability and desire to thrive in a patient experience culture with attention to the value of care.

Service Line is designed to be a Dyad Care which is a holistic model including Family Medicine physicians who are OB fellowship trained in full-scope high risk OB. Complemented with a dedicated lactation staff, an integrated Behavioral Health specialist, and Care navigators, all of whom focus on equity and bias training all in the same location. We created a model of family-centered care with combined maternal/infant care management which helps us engage patients in their care across the continuum of their lives. The team can help patients coordinate their care for primary and preconception visits, prenatal, postpartum, and inter-conceptional follow up, as well as ongoing outpatient lactation support. Providing dedicated coordination of integrated care helps address medical issues that are at the root of our community's rising maternal and infant morbidity and mortality rates. The team provides opportunities to diagnose and treat postpartum preeclampsia, new onset diabetes, and postpartum mood disorders, while also preventing many unintended initial and subsequent pregnancies, increasing immunization rates, and use of human milk.

Ideal candidate would possess expertise in:

    Full Scope of FM and OB Services plus High-Risk OB Settings with over 6,200 Births per Year
  • Work Collaboratively with Certified Nurse Midwives, NPs, PAs, and OB Fellows
  • Supervision of Family Medicine Residents, Medical Students, CNM, PA and NP Students

Women's and Children's Center is a new 6-story, nearly 200,000 square foot hospital on the campus of Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, bringing women's and children's services together. It embraces family-friendly amenities including dedicated parking, entrance, and elevators, with an innovative approach to caring for babies needing intensive care. The facility is one of the first in the state to feature couplet care rooms, allowing moms who have just given birth to recover in the same room with NICU services. 45 private NICU rooms-allowing parents to stay with their child. Cone Health MedCenter for Women is also a new facility that has been created by women, for women! The two-story, 30,000 square-foot medical office building provides comprehensive, one-stop health services and supports Cone Health's business strategy to increase access and convenience - serving all women (including private pay, private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid).

In addition to general OB/GYN, our services include Urological Gynecologists, specialized high-risk Maternal Fetal Care medical services, and outpatient physical therapy. MedCenter for Women offers additional support services that address social determinants of health. The Dr. Miguel & Denese Brito Nutrition and Education Center is located in the building to address food insecurities among our patients; it is a new Cone Health service offered in partnership with Food Lion, Backpack Beginnings and other community resources. Services also include breastfeeding support, integrated behavioral health, prenatal yoga, women's imaging (i.e., ultrasound and mammography), laboratory services, and a future community garden. The building co-locates innovative obstetric and gynecologic services with programs aligned with Cone Health's strategic priorities of improving birth outcomes, addressing health disparities, and tackling social determinants of health.

Responsibilities

Education/Training: Utilizes literature and attends regional and national meetings to remain current and professionally competent. Participates inpatient, staff, and professional education programs. Participates in educational and research programs including didactic material , formal teaching conferences, clinical teaching, staff education conferences, and clinical research.

Liaison: Participates in liaison duties with the other professional staff, and in development of patient referral sources. Keeps referring physicians informed of care and outcomes.

Patient Care; Provides direct and indirect patient care to the assigned areas. Provides medical supervision of the interdisciplinary team and supervises residents and medical students in all aspects of their assigned duties. Participates in clinical research projects of interest. Provides accurate and timely documentation and sign off of care to establish up-to-date medical records for billing purposes.

Quality Improvement: Engages in continuous improvements and use of evidence based practices working towards preeminent healthcare and service (with outcomes moving into the 90th percentile or above). Maintain records in accordance with the policies of MCHS, applicable laws and regulations. participates in development of clinical guidelines, procedures, programs, and makes recommendations to improve quality and efficiency of care. Shares specifically designated on-call responsibilities with other physician members of the assigned areas.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board. Also medical degrees from other countries that are equivalent to the United States MD or DO degrees from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Completed appropriate residency training (and fellowship training as required).

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED
Required: Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges. If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty).
Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC.
Meets requirements of the Moses Cone Health System Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges.
The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions.
Each Practitioner shall maintain in force professional liability insurance as determined by the Moses Cone Health System Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees; currently $1 million each incident and each occurrence, and $3 million aggregate. The Practitioner must provide proof of professional liability insurance coverage, with a current certificate of insurance or a current copy of the policy. The professional liability insurance coverage shall be with a company approved by the North Carolina Insurance Commission and otherwise satisfactory to the Board of Trustees.
